Bally's Wednesday 4/18 ~ Shoulder Strengthener and Opener

So I'm back from the training and with more energy, knowledge, and inspiration than ever! During in class, I will incorporate some new poses and variations I have learned without trying to deviate from my current style too much. There will still be a theme for each class, and I was pleasantly surprised to learn that Shiva creates themes for her class as well!

This Wednesday's class will be focused on strengthening and opening our shoulders. We will begin with some warm-up poses through Sun Salutations and variations of Sun Salutations. It will then be followed by poses that will work towards Pincha Mayurasana (right). We may not kick our legs up into the full inversion, but we will definitely work towards it.

I am so excited to be back and cannot wait to see all of you again!!!

Prior to class, I was a bit nervous because within the past week, I've learned so much and wanted to incorporate every new thing, but I knew that I also didn't want to clash with the style I have created and people have become comfortable with.

Turnout was smaller than usual (7 total), but it allowed for an intimate class and closer attention to those who needed it. Overall, it was a challenging class and I particular loved the forearm plank pose where we (well, everyone else but me) held for 2 minutes. It's certainly challenging, but I definitely think that the mind gets tired before the body, so if you continue to remind yourself that, you can bear through it easier (at least, that's what I think).

I noticed some people performing chaturanga incorrectly, so we may need to work on that - perhaps next week. :) A full hour of chaturangas sound good?
