Bally's Wednesday 4/25 ~ Warriors on a Mission

Often times, I have noticed that we (including myself) do not fully carry out warrior poses to its utmost potential. Most times, they are half-carried through with minimal focus on the front bent knee and rarely any attention to the back foot. Due to this lack of focus, warrior poses can appear to be "easy" and meaningless addition to your practice.

During this class, we will discuss the proper way to carry out warrior poses (virabhadrasana 1, 2, and 3) and introduce various modifications for each, so make sure you bring your warrior faces on! :)

Hope to see you then!

You guys and gals are AWESOME! The class wouldn't be the same without you - I truly mean that. Seeing returning faces week after week gives me all the more motivation and inspiration to teach yoga, so I thank you.

This class was probably one of my favorites. We started off with sun salutations into warrior 1 salutations and right into our wave sequence with each wave bringing attention to our arm placements. These arm variations were meant to mimic what you would feel during warrior poses, but it also distinguished each wave challenge apart. After our wave sequence, we dove right into warrior poses and variations which led right into our dancing warriors - 5 sets of them!

Now that the format of the class incorporates a lot of chaturangas, the "bad" chaturangas are being revealed. It is very, VERY important that you understand and respect your body's boundaries and pick a level that is appropriate for you that day. Accept where you are and know that opportunities are abundant so long as patience is prevalent.

Concerns arose about leaving early and arriving late to class. I do not take offense if you decide to do either as long as you are respectful of others' practice.

I have some thoughts about next week's practice, but haven't solidified them yet. Any suggestions???
