Wednesday Yoga (9/19) ~ Back to Where It All Started

Every now and then, it is always good to look back and see how far we have advanced in our practice; plus, it also helps to tone it down a bit after several weeks of intense practice. Therefore, this week, we will bring it back to basics in restorative poses. As I understand some of you really enjoy the challenge of this class, so of course, there will be several modifications. In any case, it is important to let the body and muscles heal from intense workout, and ground ourselves back to where it all started.

I haven't started planning for the practice yet, so if you have suggestions in regards to anything, please don't hesitate to send me an e-mail. I look forward to seeing all of you Wednesday!

I think we should crank the heat up and do some really slow and intense holds of poses.. maybe some pigeon, eagle, tree..a little balance a little stretch. What do you think? I'm game for everything you do ~ can't wait! see you Wednesday!

Okay, so when you think of "basics", you probably think "easy", but in fact, I assume judging by everyone's overly enthusiastic expressions that the practice was harder than expected. Often times, we remain in certain poses for only a few short breaths that sometimes we never fully dive into it or are absorbed by it, so by holding the poses for several breaths, you learn to appreciate the pose as well as refine the alignment in the poses.

You guys are amazing with the alignment and breathing, so that's great to see! Remember to always use modifications and props where necessary and don't be ashamed, because it can actually allow you to deepen in the poses and make it even more challenging than you think. Just because it's a "prop" doesn't necessarily mean you are giving in.

I understand the heat may have been more intense than usual, but heat helps with intensifying stretches, allowing the body to sweat out the toxins, and challenge the body and mind. Although at some points you may have felt uncomfortable, it is normal so long as you did not feel light-headed or nauseous. So if anyone felt it was overkill with the heat, please e-mail or leave an anonymous note.

Any questions or feedback about tonight's practice is welcomed and encouraged! Please leave me a note and let me know what your thoughts are. Also, I would be curious to know how you feel tomorrow morning. :)

Someone commented that tonight should be a "rejuvenating" practice, but did not feel like it. I hope that after class that cool air after exiting the room was rejuvenating enough! Cheers!!!
